Adolescent & Pediatric Gynecology
Gynecology is health care for women. It helps you take good care of your sexual and reproductive health.
Routine gynecological care:
- prevents illness and discomfort
- allows for early detection of cancers of the breast and cervix — when they are more curable
- detects sexually transmitted infections and other conditions before they cause serious damage
- prevents sterility
- promotes healthy pregnancy and childbirth
Annual Exams
To maintain a high level of wellness, all women should have a gynecological or GYN (pronounced "G-Y-N") exam. The exam takes a short period of time, is usually only minimally uncomfortable, and provides an important measure of prevention against disease, particularly cervical cancer.
As a rule, all women should have a GYN exam once a year (hence the name, annual GYN exam or annual). This routine should begin when a woman becomes sexually active. Even if a woman has never had sexual intercourse, it is advisable she have her first GYN exam by the time she is 21 or 22 years old.

Pap Smears
A Pap test can save your life. It can find cancer of the cervix - a common cancer in women - before it moves to other parts of your body (becomes invasive). If caught early, treatment for cancer of the cervix can be easier and the chances of curing it are far greater. Pap tests can also pick up infections and inflammation, and abnormal cells that can change into cancer cells.

Tubal Surgery and Laparoscopy Surgery
Diagnostic laparoscopy is a very important technique. It permits evaluation of tubal and peritoneal factors in the infertile patient also with acute and chronic pelvic pain.
A laparoscopy is performed by inserting a laparoscope into an incision made just below the navel. Nitrous oxide gas is put into the abdomen before the laparoscope is inserted so the reproductive organs can be seen.
Tubal ligation Surgery. The fallopian tubes are grasped and sealed by using bands, clips or electrocoagulation. Also the tube could be reconstructed after previous tubal ligation (Tubal Reanastomosis) with the use of microsurgical techniques.

Vaginal Surgery
As woman gets older, their pelvic organs change. They may have a feeling of pelvic pressure or heaviness. They may also have leakage of urine (urinary stress incontinence). These symptoms are caused by lack of pelvic support, prolapse or muscle weakening. A hysterectomy (uterus removal) may be needed. Other procedures in conjunction might as well be needed to restore and improve the patient’s gynecologic problem.
